A Touching Story

January 25, 2015

.

So, today, I had a scheduled pickup for two signs.  These two signs were ordered by a man for his Mom's birthday.

The order was for two signs, but the sentiments were from the perspective of being a Grandmother..  So, the sentiments were from his children.

I met him, we discussed what he wanted, colours, size etc.  Awesome.

From his description, and my sending him ideas, he agreed.  Super!!!

A few weeks later...pick up day....

This man arrives with his bright eyed 7 year old daughter.  She walks in, all confident, with a brilliant smile and hands me an envelope.  I am figuring that her Dad, has given her the envelope with my payment in the envelope.  We are all chatting, and I am holding this envelope, and feel something protruding, so I say to this lovely little girl, is this for me?  She nods, yes.  May I open it I ask.  She nods yes.

I open it.  This envelope does not contain cash, rather a hand drawn thank you note AND a hand made key chain for ME, for MOI!!!!!!   What?????

I react thrilled and touched and am so beyond words.  This little girl, took the time to create her piece of art for me.  Obviously, she has been brought up well by her parents, who I am proud to say that they are my customers.  This little 7 year old girl wanted to see where I create my signs.  This little girl is the future of our arts.  I am so excited to say that I met her.

My Week Of Holidays

This week I had a week of vacation.  A staycation!  So, I was able to devote my time to ChristieSigns business.

I ended up painting 4 custom orders.  Added 4 signs in to inventory and built 7 signs.  I would say, all-in-all, I had a very productive week.

I am feeling accomplished and very pleased with this week.

I now need to go back into the shop and build 2 more signs.

The above sign arrived safely in Calgary on Thursday.  This sign was gifted to a young couple who just purchase their first home.  These are the places that they have lived, and as you can see, there will be more moves in their future together.

Have a great day!  :)

Listen To Your Innerself

This week was a little disheartening...I was totally excited to have met yet another deadline.  While I had a funny feeling all along with this order, I ignored my instincts, silly moi....

I have tried to contact this customer several times, but to no avail, the last attempt was to say exactly which date the two orders would be ready, knowing full well the required date was the day after I had everything ready (my customer lives close by, so no shipping required).  My customer needs them today, but here they sit in my house....what a shame....

I also have another *feeling* that my customer has a reason for not contacting me, and that one day I will hear from her, yup, that is what I feel...

Oh well, thank goodness, I am now working with two customers who are equi-excited (did I just make up a new word?) about their orders.  Wonderful people and I can't wait to get started on their special orders.  Once again, their special orders have their special stories to go along with them.....

Ah, yes, I am fortunate.

See you soon again.

Friday's Here

It was a great week once again.  I was part of a surprise.  I was asked to paint up seven signs for a lady.  She and six of her friends had planned a get-away weekend, and together they came up with a name for this get-away.   So, as a surprise for all of her friends, she ordered the signs and each of her friends were gifted with one of the above.  I would really like to have been part of that weekend, the sign says it all, right up my alley!!!

With each order that I receive, a special story comes along with it.  I feel like I get to know my customers just by listening to them, and while I paint up their special request I find myself smiling as I think about them and their personal story that they have shared with me.

As always, I hold my breath when I hand over their order, awaiting their reaction.  I have not yet been let down, Phew!

With that I will leave you, and am on my way to make another delivery.

Saturday's Sharing

I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile now, and after this weeks happenings, I thought there is no better time than now to share my wonderful week.

It started off with last week, when I received an email from someone that I had never met asking me to paint up a sign for her.  I got it done, met her, and she was so happy with it, she ordered two more signs.

Then, my week continues along and I have a meeting with someone for two hours, working out all the details of what she wants,  meanwhile laughing away and having a very good time with each other...eight orders later I am on my way.

The next day, yesterday, I have a customer who ordered seven signs, and we make an appointment for pickup, and I will now finally get to meet her in person too.  Well, seriously, could she have been any sweeter?  She was thrilled with her order, and when she bid me goodbye, she gave me a hug!

I have to share all these happenings, why keep them to myself, everyone needs to know what wonderful people I have been dealing with.

Until I am back again, I wish you all a happy day.

Chris
